Nutrition Therapy for Diabetic Patients with Malnutrition

Recently, the prevalence of diabetic mellitus patients in Korea has been increasing, and it increasing with age. The treatment goal diabetes is to prevent complications through blood sugar management, for which important maintain an appropriate nutritional state. Unbalanced diet refers excessive or insufficient nutrition, can be generally confirmed weight conditions. Therefore, medical nutrition therapy unbalanced aims a moderate body mass index. Older people have higher risk than those without diabetes. Clinical intervention should shift from strict dietary restrictions metabolic syndrome/obesity prevention frailty sarcopenia clinical individualized consideration age, gender, condition. Medical tailored each patient contribute improving status patients, prolonging healthy life expectancy quality life.
